This lettuce is photogenic! Beautiful enough to stand alone as an ornamental, but also one of the best tasting varieties available. Always one of the last varieties to bolt in our trials and retains its nice sweet flavor all through the season.

Pablo Lettuce History

This lettuce is photogenic! Beautiful enough to stand alone as an ornamental, but also one of the best tasting varieties available. Always one of the last varieties to bolt in our trials and retains its nice sweet flavor all through the season.

Growing Pablo Lettuce Seeds

Seeds should be planted ⅛ to ¼ of an inch deep. Lettuce seeds need light to germinate, so don’t sow them too deep.  Seedlings can be thinned when they have 3 to 4 true leaves. Transplants should have 4 to 6 mature leaves and a well-developed root system before being planting into the garden. For either seeded or transplanted lettuce, leave 12 to 15 inches between each planting row. Here are guidelines for different lettuce types: Loose-leaf lettuce: Plant or thin to 4 inches apart. Romaine (cos) and butterhead (loose-head, Bibb, Boston) lettuce: Plant or thin to 8 inches apart. Crisphead (iceberg) lettuce: Plant or thin to 16 inches apart. Water thoroughly at time of transplanting. Consider planting rows of chives or garlic between your lettuce to control aphids. They act as “barrier plants” for the lettuce.

Preserving And Storing Lettuce Pablo

To store a full head of lettuce, wrap in a damp paper towel and put the head inside a plastic bag. Store in the refrigerator. If you’re storing individual lettuce leaves, spin them dry after washing and place in a lettuce keeper in the fridge. A container is best to avoid bruising and bacteria buildup.

Pablo Recipe

This salmon avocado salad is a healthy salad recipe that’s big on nutrients and flavor. A moist, pan seared salmon is layered on top of spinach, avocado, tomatoes, and red onions. Then drizzled with a homemade lemon vinaigrette. It’s light yet filling, and simple enough to be made in under 20 minutes.
